Holiday Rare Item Auction!

Another rare item auction is upon us! Since it is the holidays, we have some items that don't typically make it into auctions. Below, you can find a list of what is included :D

Holiday Edition of the Rare Item Auction:
• Arctic Fox
• Rejuvenator
• Auto Feeder
• Blossoming Forest Background
• Alpine Wildflowers Background
• Opal Feather Piece
• Spring Fawn
• Professional Handler Kit (a Custom Companion donated by our very own Kit!)
• Amur Leopard (bidding starts at 100 Bones, Bones Only)
• Magical Water Bowl (bidding starts at 50 Bones, Bones Only)

You can view the rare item auction HERE at any time, up until the end. These auctions will be running for 4 days, and so will end on Saturday, December 24th. This day, for some, is also known as Christmas Eve! This means that you will have the perfect opportunity to pick up the last minute, ultimate gift!

Most of these auctions will be starting at 1 Bone, or $25,000, and move up in increments of the same amount. There are two exceptions to this; due to the rarity and value of the Amur Leopard and the Magical Water Bowl, these two items will have a higher starting bid and only be available in Bones.

5 Days of Christmas

Santa Paws his holding daily drawings for special items up until Christmas! These drawings will be posted each day both here, in the news, as well as in Mini Updates/Admin Updates, at some point before midnight. There is one prize per drawing and it's completely up to chance (haha, NOT the companion!) to choose the winner. The rules are simple and they are straightforward, but they are not to be trifled with.

Read the Rules!:
1.) Post ONCE in this thread before Midnight Ala time, on the day the thread is posted in order to be entered into the drawing. (If you post more than once, you may be disqualified from the running)
2.) You may post once per account.

We had some pretty unique submissions yesterday and it was impossible for us to choose just one. So, today we have two second winners!

Xylax posted about a Polish tradition which I didn't believe until I looked it up:
In Poland, there's tons of traditions. The most famous one is that we buy a carp two weeks before xmas and we let it swim in our bathtubs for it's a fresh meat on Xmas Eve table. Then nobody has a heart to kill them anymore and we notice a rising trend of carp pets.

dormatorymoss posted a unique and wonderful family tradition which sounds like so much fun:
My family has a rather unique tradition, I'd say, involving a coconut monkey.

It all started with my mum and dad, shortly before they were married. They were going through my dad's things with his mother (I don't entirely remember why; I think he and my mum were going to move in together or something). Anyway, my mum was tossing things out that she didn't see fit to keep of my dad's, when she came across a coconut-shell monkey that he had acquired from my grandmother (his mum) when she had gone to Aruba on a short holiday.

Now, my mum.. she wasn't a fan, to say the least, and without anyone knowing, the poor thing ended up in the rubbish bin!

I'm a bit blurry on the details, but somehow Ms. Monkey found her way back in the house, wrapped up as a gift from my grandmother at Christmas time, much to my mother's everlasting dismay.

Again, like I said, I forget many of the details, but this Gifting of the Monkey stuck, and every year, the monkey is gifted to another family member and must stay in display in that person's home lest they keep it for another year. When it is time to part with the monkey for that year, you must write a fitting poem for its departure, and read it aloud when the primate is transferred.

At first, the monkey was rather bare, but over time she accumulated many accessories-- A pearl necklace, hat, and mink shawl being a few.

Right, so, that's our tradition, I guess. Hope someone finds some amusement in it!

Four years ago, when me and the rest of the family got together to put up the tree together, something quite odd happened. Earlier that day I had adopted my first rat "Scrat" after the death of my hamster. Bringing him on my lap, as I sat on the couch, taking a break from decorating the tree, I began to watch a Christmas movie. The rat, even pet ones, I didn't know were very sly. And within thirty seconds from not looking and paying attention to him, he was off. It turned out that he had crawled under the cushions, and found a hole leading to the center and inner parts of the couch. It took me, my uncle, my mother, and my aunt to be able to come up with a plan to get him out. Which was to turn the couch over and cut out part of the bottom and try to hoax him out. However he seemed in no mind to want to come out, and was feasting on old popcorn and other food that had fallen down into the couch. Deciding that we would all take shifts to try and get him out, while others tried to finish to decorate the tree. It was while I was decorating the tree that I heard a scream. My aunt, who had and still has a horrible phobia of rats had held Scrat in her hands crying and screaming for someone to take him. Up until the time of his passing we never let Scrat near the couch again, due to the fear of having to go through all that trouble, that Christmas gave.
