Hello Alacrites, this is Dene (#-13).
As some of you may have noticed, there is a new edition to the right sidebar, titled "Help Chance!"
Chance is my RL dog who needs to have a rather expensive surgery, to fix his left back leg.
He got out on New Year's Day and when we got him back on the second (a very nice lady called and told me she had found him) he was not walking on his left back leg at all, likely hit by a car.
We got him to the vet on the third and the vet did a physical exam when she moved and felt his leg. She told us that is could be a fracture or he could have torn his CCL, and that they needed to do x-rays. To do the x-rays, they would need to sedate Chance.
After consenting to the sedation and x-rays, we had to wait. If you've ever had to wait in a vet's or doctor's waiting room, you know how hard it is to just sit there, not knowing what's going on. Fortunately, the whole process did not take very long and we were soon called into a room to see the x-rays and speak with a vet (not the same one who examined Chance).
It was the CCL and it was torn completely in half. This is not visible on x-rays, because the CCL is not a bone. xP But the x-rays show that nothing is broken, but the femur is sliding. Without correction it can continue to slide and will cause pain.
There are a few different options as far as surgery, but from the opinions of two vets and my own research, Tibial Plateau Leveling Osteotomy (TPLO) is by far the best option for a dog of his size (big) and activity level (very active).
The surgery will cost upwards of $3,000. There is no way my boyfriend and I can afford this on our own. The vet said we have about six weeks before it will get too much worse, but it is best to act as soon as possible.
The entire knee-area of his left leg is inflamed and swollen. The vet sent us home with some pain pills that are also an inflammatory, and a whole lot to think about.



I am reaching out to you, the awesome people who love dogs as much as I do.
Chance really needs this surgery, and I am asking for donations made through Alacrity. Anyone who donates $25 or more will receive a special Chance companion, as well as bones for the amount donated.

Speaking of which, the breeding script has been fixed and should not glitch anymore. It has been coded so smaller breeds can have 1-3 pups and larger breeds 2-4, to resemble real life. But you should no longer have any bugs with it or neverending script loads.

The Chance companion will only be available until the end of January.
