Auction Stopgap

Hey, Alacrity.

For the time being we have asked our programmer to remove the feature allowing users to auction things for both cash and bones. This is a stopgap measure to prevent fraud/theft - as well as general inconvenience - resulting from the auction glitch.

The glitch occurs only in auctions with both cash and bone prices and often results in the rightful winner not receiving the dog - on top of that, it awards game-breaking numbers of bones to the auctioneer. Just yesterday this glitch nearly tripled the number of bones in our economy by awarding more than 51,000 free bones.

**EDIT** ALL FRAUDULENT BONES HAVE BEEN REMOVED FROM THE SITE. Please feel free to move about the cabin. We are sorry for the inconvenience.

The Admin team would like to extend our heartfelt thanks to Bobbie (29063), for being the only person involved to report the glitch. That kind of influx of free bones into our economy could easily have destroyed Alacrity financially. Bobbie's moral compass and quick thinking have saved us all a lot of rather dire trouble.

While we do not have a timetable on how long it will take us to finally eliminate this glitch (we've 'squashed' it before, only to have it return with more heads), this is not intended to be a permanent change. Selling for both cash and bones is a very useful feature that pretty much everyone likes, and we don't want to see it go.

Please bear with us. We hope to be able to remedy this as painlessly as possible.

Layout Strangeness

Some of you may have noticed a temporary layout glitch the past couple hours. I've been speaking with our Coder, and we're trying to get to the bottom of what's causing this.

In the meantime, if you press ctrl+F5 to do a hard refresh, this should stop the problem from happening again for you. However, if this doesn't sort out the issue, please submit a report to the Issue Hub, preferably with a screenshot of how the site looks for you. :}

We apologize for the strangeness and any inconvenience caused by this glitch! We'll hopefully have it resolved very soon!

September Games: Beauty Contest B

Hello Alacrity Players!

As you know, this month is the month for beauty shows - and we are now starting our second and final one of the month! Next month will be a different game, so keep watch of news posts in early October for that.

As for the second staff hosted beauty show, the theme is “Dogs with friends” - so find your dog a companion if they don’t already have one!

As for the previous beauty show, it was a very close call but we have our three winners!
